VITO is a leading international research and service centre in the areas of cleantech and sustainable development (figures 2016: 784 employees, >400 worldwide patents, 227 SCI publications, >170 M€ turnover, 91 PhD’s and postdocs). VITO’s ART (Waste Recycling Technologies) team, which is the team working in SULTAN, has extensive experience in solution-oriented research related to the re-use and recycling of a wide variety of mainly mineral waste products. The ART team has a particular interest in mineral waste materials and aims to recover valuable metals and minerals by means of physical and chemical (hydrometallurgical) separation technology and recycles the mineral matrix material in novel construction applications.
